Inspired by Vita Sackville-West's A Note Of Explanation
THE SPRITE IN THE DOLLS HOUSE
December 14th-15th 2019, 11am and 2.30pm, The Palace of Holyroodhouse (ENDED)
The queen’s dolls house is in disarray and its maker, Edwin, sets out to find the culprit. His search reveals Quercus, a noisy sprite who has lived through all of fairy tale history but is now trapped in the dolls house.
Can Edwin discover how Quercus came to be stuck in the house? And can Quercus find a way to return to her old home?
Earlier this year Some Kind of Theatre presented a work-in-progress performance of this show at Assembly Roxy as part of Formation Festival. The show, inspired by the discovery of Vita Sackville-West’s miniature short story A Note Of Explanation, tells the story of Quercus: a noisy sprite trapped inside the Queen Mary’s Dolls House and the adventures she has had. It will be revived this December the Palace of Holyroodhouse as part of the Palace’s Christmas programme of events.
